Strange, I thought that most on HC were anti-America and anti-Japan, but were bullish on China. Your suggestion of China imploding is rather interesting, and in line with my own viewpoints (posted variously since early 2003). However, the reasons for China's implosion extends beyond the notion of "hot" money, and has more to do with: 1) intractable State corruption (entrenched, from the top, down); 2) mis-management and abuse of State Owned Enterprises such that many of these are naow riddled with debt, bereft of resources, and fragmented by corruption, inefficiency, and poor quality output; 3) the forgotten rural and semi-urban classes (with a huge and growing disparity between the coastal hot spots and growing interior and rural poverty; 4) mis-management and diversion of Official Reserves to prop up slending practices towards SOEs (10% during Q1, alone) - may end up still being good, but only if the SOEs are cleaned up in the process; 5) a bereft legal system, essentially without a proper insolvency management regime (although corrective efforts here are underway); 6) a similarly bereft property system which broadly fails to recognise any legal rights in, or to, ownership of property /land (although again, corrective efforts here are underway); 7) a significant diversion of State funds towards engaging in a new "space race" and in continuing to build up the defence forces (particularly the White Water Navy focused on the South China Sea and in the Taiwan Straits); and 8) a similarly bereft legal system which fails to adequately monitor or protect IPRs (with corrective efforts here far too slow to have made any menaingful difference to date).

We are taking: 1) citizen's militia here; 2) the National Rifle Association (whose recent President was none other than Charlton heston - who several years back called Australia a much more dangerous a place for bearing arms than America or anywhere else - just as Howard was pursuing the Federal Guns Buyback in the aftermath of Port Arthur, etc, etc); 3) the extreme far Right who believe only in States' Rights and who otherwise regard the Federal Government as an even bigger evil than communism, socialism, or nationalism; 4) activists who believe in nothing better than in bringing down the Federal Government, so that they can rise up and seize control of individual States, etc; and 5) activists who generally claim the support of religion, but otherwise have a tendency of turning out being the least tolerant of all people (whether as to class, race, status, gender, gender bias, political persuasion, etc).
I, therefore, agree with feelinglucky - a correction may be in sight, particularly as the Northern Hemisphere goes on its annual Summer holidays, but not EoW stuff.
More importantly, the mania associated with global oil prices fails to factor in that during 1974/5, global oil increased by a 5x factor, whereas in the current climate, the increase has been of a smaller 30-40%. A vast difference in anyone's language.
