ELK have updated their website a bit and although i prefer the old green to the new there seems to be some info on the chemical flooding alternatives
Grieve Muddy:
Chemical flood option allows for a pilot study to be undertaken and thereby establish a 2P reserve classification. As a preflush to the pilot, water injection may demonstrate the presence of movable secondary oil (waterflood)
Sounds like they intend to do a pilot if this option is chosen. Can anybody explain why the waterflood demonstration is needed generally in the EOR process ?? Is it just a final practical test or do they recover oil that sellable etc?
Ash Creek Shannon :
Elk expects to engage OU to conduct a chemical flood of the Shannon reservoir after it has completed its study of the Grieve Muddy EOR using chemical flooding
Sounds like the OU will release the Grieve results first ( the early october (4th quarter) schedule) and then the Shannon will be released later. As the shannon is the potentially 'surprising' news it would be nice to see the results sooner. I hope the Grieve news is more confirmation of what we already estimate.
As others posters have stated the early 2009 decision deadline on the grieve preferred option is a positive sign that they wont drag it on too much longer. Sounds like management are as equally frustrated as investors on the CO2 search.
Just my opinions / read on their words.
Cheers
