hi poolboy in a past life I was but you have asked the classic no simple answer question.voluntary assumption of risk with or without a signed disclaimer is usually a strong defence but it depends( the classic hedger)on completeness of disclosure and the level of understanding by the afflicted among other things.nothing will stop a plaintiff with a vicious lawyer issuing even with the thinnest of chances as even a whiff of a case will have legal fees paid by the insurer( the no win no fee mobs) as it is the lowest $ cost and avoids a court determined liability the alternate having it tossed out by a court is usually too expensive for an insurer to run unless the odds are hugely in their favour and they can recover costs from a well heeled plaintiff.
anyway ask yourself this -- how many limbless or deformed animals have we seen in the past 60 years of ipps use by the vet fraternity??it has a startlingly beneficial record in living creatures!!
