arrrh no ---------------- that's a very incorrect look at it

you are comparing the price of purchase of an ICE car to an electric car - yes?

But, that's a simplistic thing and ignores completely the business plan of ICE car manufacture

why and how?

Well - out you go and buy your new little ICE car for ??? $whatever

so, is that it? - is that your cost over a few years - like - you pay the price at the dealers and never pay any more??

the whole idea of many or most ICE manufacturers is to give you the car at the lowest price -

THEN make up what they lose there - by charging like wounded bulls for servicing, parts and god knows whatever else they can think up -

try paying for the services on some ICE cars - the servicing prices are horrendous

interestingly - others have it built in - but, the purchase price is higher

Electrics- they just don't need much done - and, there's no engine or complicated drive train to service - or break - electric motors are very reliable and long life -

so, the cost of the car at first - IS pretty much what it's all about. (if you want to avoid the servicing charges - the thing isn't going to fall apart like an ice car will)

and, 'take a day to charge' ----------------- what century are you in?

also, what thinking space are you in?

Where I am I see electric cars plugged in at people's homes and outside buildings - quietly charging ------------ you can't do that with an ICE car

wouldn't it be lovely for an ICE car - head off to work with the tank almost empty - arrive at your car park and hey presto - by the time you come out of the office - your tank is magically full

wow --------- land of fantasy there for an ICE car

but, for electric cars ---------- it's actually the world of reality

They are fine to trundle around town.

They are NOT going to save the planet in their current form.

Need a battery 10 fold better than what is available.

All they will achieve is raping the planet for more previous resources.

Need to do more with less.

There is NO reason the electric car should use more material & weigh more than an ICE. That is NOT technical advancement putting a bigger battery in the car.

its very easy to get performance which it useless on most roads. Most would trade that 'speed' ^ ego for a one a month charge in 5 minutes to go 1,000k's or more.

I have to drive to Adelaide & back last week via broken Hill (live north of Brisbane) - I'd still be on the road (or on the side of the road)
