Elon Musk - 0% Cobalt used in next gen batteries, page-34

There are some who think that higher cobalt/lithium/battery prices will slow down the EV Revolution surge....
There are some who think that future cobalt price will reach US$200,000/t...
There are some who think that cobalt price will stabilize around US$100,000/t and remain at that level for x number of years allowing for rapid assimilation of the EV Revolution...

At the moment, the majority of car makers and battery producers have gone with NMC622 as their battery of choice (Tesla is NCA battery)....The NMC811 has not yet been proven to be effective so IMO we have 2-3 years to continue with NMC622...And I would be OK with a stabilized US$100,000/t cobalt...

Musk's 0% cobalt in next gen batteries is 10 years down the road if at all...He's just trying to talk the price down...But we do know Tesla cars have some safety issues that require them to be controlled by complex battery management systems...

Problems aside, we need the DRC cobalt as well as all other cobalt as provided for by the top cobalt juniors...There is room for all of them, laterite or sulphide...

So while Musk and Panasonic try to talk down the cobalt price, which seems to have worked somewhat, it is interesting that Panasonic has said they will be tripling their cobalt expenditure over the next 5 years...
