IMO, the future of electric cars (EVs) is a small city version
similar to the smart car with light/cheap batteries and the
facility to solar charge during the day. The price needs to be
sub $12K with a throwaway life of 10 years.
Hybrids are trying to bridge the gap between normal cars
and EVs and as such have had some success. (Check
Totota's world hybrid sales.
