The China Observer estimates around 21000 EVs are catching fire in China yearly currently. It is yet to be shown if these are due to substandard chemical composition, poor manufacturing, or poor design. However as China is a major supplier of batteries world wide it should be ringing alarm bells. Tesla have their blade batteries manufactured in China from memory.
