    Dear Mr Mann,

Thank you for writing to express your opinion to The Leader of the Opposition, John-Paul Langbroek MP.

Your views will be brought to the attention of Mr Langbroek as well as the Shadow Minister for Natural Resources, Mines and Energy, Mr Jeff Seeney.

It is important the LNP be informed of what people are thinking as we work to restore confidence in Queensland, so the effort you have taken to bring this matter to our attention is appreciated.

We constantly strive to hold the Bligh Labor Government to account for its many failings not only in government but in the many areas where there has been a failure in the delivery of the basic services that the people of Queensland deserve.

The LNP believes that there needs to be proper monitoring of all mining and gas activities especially in closely settled areas, and the Minister needs to ensure there are enough Departmental officers in the field to properly monitor all of the mining projects that are springing up across regional Queensland.

LNP Shadow Minister for Natural Resources, Mines and Energy, Jeff Seeney pursued the issue at Estimates after hearing for some time that the Department didnt have anywhere near enough staff on the ground to supervise and monitor the mining boom.

The coal-to-gas project at Kingaroy was a trial of a new technology that had raised considerable concern; it should have been monitored more closely than most other mining projects.

The fact that there was no Departmental officers monitoring this trial site raises questions about what monitoring the Department is doing in other areas.

Under Labor, the Department of Mines and Energy and the Department of Natural resources have been run down and starved of resources year after year, and there are now serious questions about whether these Departments have the people with the skills to properly administer the mining boom

As the next State Election approaches we will be seeking to highlight this and many other Labor failures and offer the people of Queensland a real alternate vision as to how Queensland should be governed.

Thank you again for contacting us.

    Yours sincerely

    Chryss Cahill
