There are many competing technologies in the waste water and waste sludge markets, and even more competitors utilising those technologies. As we have indicated on this Forum, the waste treatment industry is highly competitive and particularly ruthless, hence our refusal to grant our competitors any advantage by publishing sensitive price data here.

With so many competitors, it is well beyond our scope to compare Intec's waste recycling technology to competitors on an individual basis. As a group, however, we don't compete with technologies (such as thermal or bacterial destruction) that are targetted to the treatment of organic chemicals in water or soils, because Intec addresses inorganics only, mostly heavy metals.

The aspect that makes Intec's technology stand out for heavy metals is the fact that unlike most waste technologies - which seek only to 'stabilise' and 'encapsulate' the metals to allow them to be disposed to landfill - Intec's know-how seeks to recycle those metals into useful products, diverting them away from landfill and putting them back into the useable metal stream and contributing to the sustainable conservation of resources. This, and the ability in many cases to do this at less than the current market price for the competing technologies is what has the regulators and industry excited.

By the same reasoning, the Victorian government has been very supportive of our efforts with GB Galvanzing to bring to market a version of our technology for the zero-waste recycling of spent pickle liquor as a significant improvement to the current landfill-based treatment technology. Victoria currently collects appreciable levies on landfill disposal with the specific purpose of redistributing those levy funds to support technologies that prevent the need for landfill. It is a separate fund, not part of general revenue. The GB Galvanizing-led application for this support was submitted on-time in May, and while we cannot in any way guarantee the outcome, we remain hopeful of partial funding for the project in the near future.

Lastly, as we have repeatedly indicated on this Forum, we cannot comment on any individual shareholder's intentions with respect to the SPP, and this includes Ivanhoe Mines. However, Ivanhoe has continued to be very supportive of Intec since acting as a cornerstone investor to the IPO, and we are sincerely thankful for its support throughout the years. We are not sure why you would say that you don't think Ivanhoe "is interested in helping Intec over this hump".
