IMHO NWT's proposal from NWT. There is likely to be a place for smaller companies such as NWT to fill the gaps when they sort out the network to be provided by the big boys. There are likely to be many places which cannot be reached in the short term with a wired network and the more remote places which may only ever be serviced by satellite. Optus could probably provide this but it would be so much better to allow competition and Optus will probably get the lions share of the contracts any way given Telstra's obdurate attitude. How about all you NWT shareholders out there emailing the minister and make the point that it is desirable to give smaller Australian companies a chance and not allow the big companies such as Optus and Telstra to monopolise the situation. It is a fair point and if enough people email then the message might get through.
