Hi Natalie,
I have notice a lot of bad press relating to the underground coal gasification operations in Australia, I think you should be focusing more on CSG, and do you research on UCG. I can guarantee UCG is one of the cleanest and safest methods of using coal. Yes I am against coal as well, but let?s face it; it?s going to be around for a long time so why not take the environmental sound method rather than having more open cut mines or csg, because QLD will be short of power and our options are limited. I and I think most Australians would prefer alternative energy sources (solar), but for the short to medium term I and my family enjoy power and the environment. So do your research visits these companies let them show you, let them continue their trials, and once completed then judge them I?m sure the ucg companies would be happy to show you there operations but I don?t think you will be so lucky with csg. I have spent the last 10 years of my life cleaning the bottom of the ocean floor, removing more rubbish then you could imagine on a volunteer basis out of the respect for the environment. I think these companies deserve the chance to prove there technologies without the bad press. Australia?s Underground coal gasification is highly sought after all over the world for its environmental safety. Let?s not give it away like everything else.
