re: email virus? thanks Thanks for the replies,
I'm writing this as I await the files from Alpaha's link to download.
Here's an update.
Phoned the ISP's technical support and explained the problem. Was told to forward the bouncing email as an attachment to the ISP's Security people, so that they could track down the real source of the email. Received an auto-reply advising that Security only accepts enquiries in a specific format and that my email had been archived and marked for no further action... please refer to the Security website...
Went to the ISP's Security website and filed an incident report. As requested, I attached to the form the bouncing email's message source as a text file not the actual email.
Received another auto-response from Security advising that there was a virus found in the message I sent, and the following info
--- Scan information follows ---
Result: Virus Detected
File Attachment: 1045721357955.txt/Unknown000004F1.data/MEMBG.HTM
Attachment Status: deleted
I also received another email advising me of a content violation in an email message I sent, and the following info
File(s): MEMBG.scr
I'm getting the impression that I am being viewed as the baddy for sending nasty viruses to my ISP's Security. Sheesh! Great help!
Ocker, thanks for the clarification of what I suspected. I was worried that somehow the virus was actually sending emails from my computer causing the unexplained activity on my internet monitor... perhaps a touch of paranoia...
... so people out there might be receiving virus-infected emails marked as being from me (or my email address)??
.... I'll moider the bum!
