    To answer your question, a company can only be in a trading halt for 2 days. Actually if they start in the morning, that works out to three days I think.

    If the issue which caused the trading halt isnt resolved by then, then they have to ask for a voluntary suspension of the stock. This can last indefinitely - years maybe.

    I think if you look at the announcements last week, you will see that the initial trading halt for AED got converted into a suspension after 2 days - or maybe that was ABS, I am not sure. Or AFG. whatever.
