The Berejiklian government is preparing to truck water to a Northern Tablelands town facing the prospect of running out of water before a pipeline to a nearby reservoir is finished.Guyra, home to the large Costa tomato farm, could run out of water by August without the intervention if rains don't return, Adam Marshall, the Nationals member for the region, said. The Tomato Exchange at Guyra - rapidly declining water supplies are putting the town's horticulture industry at risk. I have formally requested the government make emergency water funding available to Armidale Regional Council to allow for the transport of water from Malpas Dam to Guyra, as an interim measure, until the pipeline [from the dam] is fully operational," he said.Mr Marshall did not disclose how much the trucking is likely to cost. As many as 200 staff at the Costa greenhouses in Guyra were at risk of losing their jobs if water supplies dried up.
