still an unproven product at that time. from what I've read the blockchain version of 'points' will mean near instant distribution of points to the consumer (as opposed to waiting 20-30 days) and savings in fees associated with manual distribution of points for the client.
the system looks great on paper, but given the turbulent (haha) few years qantas has had, I can't blame them for choosing not to purchase an unproven and completely new point system. hell, blockchain is still considered voodoo in some professional circles.
Emirates can afford to take a risk and even then, the fact they have taken it on at all is pretty damn impressive and should peak interest from other companies if it's proven to save costs, be faster and work consistently. here's hoping those new programmers at loyyal brought their A game
