    In Saudi I understand they are turning to solar rather than oil or gas for power generation mainly on economic grounds. It is better to use solar for electricity and flog the unused oil to others rather than to use the oil for power generation. Even if the solar plants only operate during daylight hours you still can chop a 1/3 of your oil demand.
