For what its worth here is how the Victorian myki mobile pass works. This initiative has been around for a few years here in Victoria, however, traction on it has been slow and steady, I'd agree with Boony on this and say it is probably a 70/30 split for traditional card users vs mobile users. I also find that people who travel to Melbourne like to use the mobile myki over the traditional card. I find it highly frustrating as well always having to dig out my Opal card when I go to NSW for work (pre-covid this was a monthly trip I'd make) and would love to use a mobile solution for practicality. When I am using PTV in Vic, I use the traditional card, however, I don't think I will be for much longer, I'm just using up the remaining funds I have on cards at home before swapping over to mobile myki (working from home these days makes it hard to use $200 worth of myki money I have on cards).
