EML’s float balance (the amount they have stored on gift cards etc) earns about $2.5m AUD per year for every 0.25% interest rate. Currently it’s 0% but as rates rise we will be a big big beneficiary as it drops straight to profit. Now we are 12 months on and a bigger company I can see this being $3m+ pear year for each quarter of 1% rise.
imagine in 3,4 year and US or EU central banks are back to 1%+ we are going to have an extra $12-$15m of profit for doing nothing + the upside to valuation.
