I expect we’ll see many more governments rolling out card based stimulus as they attempt to kickstart their economies post COVID.
Doling out cash to consumers is now a core strategy of the Australian government to cushion economic shocks. Rightly or wrongly, Aus has been seen as a bit of a poster child across the western world for our record breaking 30 year run of economic growth so it wouldn’t surprise if other countries borrowed from our play book.
The use of card based systems improves the efficiency/targeting of the stimulus and minimises the potential of the stimulus to end up in poker machines.
Hopefully we’ll see a few more of these deals flow through the accounts of EML/PFS.
