To my mind a job of the future would have to be in homeland security, in customs in all ports of landing, airports etc. even doing postal sorting (customs) for drugs and the list goes on. The main problem with the armed forces as I see it is, in civvy street there isn't much call for a sonar operator or missile launcher. The down side is you may have to go to areas of their choosing for a number of years, but if moving from family isn't a problem go for it.
