When supermarkets of scale does a firesale it is because the company/distributer wont take the stock back.
Even if supermarkets bought products on no return discount.... All supermarket products managers worth thier salt would have called the brand to ask for incentives to avoid doing a sizeable clearence to maintain thier relationship. (unless it is end of the line and / or few remaining items.)
If majors like Coles, Woolies and IGA (Metcash) performed a firesale, it means A2M gave them the finger.
