Just wanted to highlight a paper I posted about a few months ago. It was discussing trial results with regards to lowering blood pressure of stroke victims in a pre hospital environment. Some important takeaways below:
”The INTERACT4 trial showed a practice-changing result. 1 Time is brain, for both ICH and acute ischemic stroke.”
”The results lay down a challenge to physicians and healthcare systems: to identify stroke sub-type earlier, and to deliver treatment for intracerebral hemorrhage in the same efficient and coordinated way that we do for acute ischemic stroke.”
Basically, by lowering the blood pressure of ICH patients, outcomes were dramatically improved. This can be done pre-hospital after stroke sub-type classification. In other words the EMV Gen2 will potentially have utility for improving the outcome of both stroke sub type patients, not just Ischemic.
No doubt these types of results will provide significant influence to change pre-hospital stroke guidelines around the world.
