I think the only threat from miniaturising CT is the regulatory process.
I'm guessing (but don't know) that regulatory approval process for CT based machines would be faster and less costly because it's an old, pre-existing and pre-approved tech.
However,
1. I'm also guessing (but don't know) that if it was easy to do it would have been done long ago by the majors.
And
2.Because there is radiation involved with CT, I can't understand how they will allow it to be operated without a CT radiographer i.e in an ambulance. MRI/microwave is different
