Professor Abbosh is on a roll - a further significant grant received (just under $800,000) for 2025-27 from the Australian Research Council - to enhance the IP now owned by EMV.
I'm no expert, but the IP enhancement goal appears to be to expand the capacity of the tech from just a point in time scan to real-time monitoring. This, I imagine, would have enormous value for an expanded EMU in the post-surgery recovery ward.

The project aims to develop a three-dimensional microwave system that can image and monitor the internal structure of objects in real-time. It will be portable, non-invasive, non-destructive, and non-ionizing, making it ideal for many key applications. It will have a compact antenna array designed to uniformly irradiate the object and collect microwave data that are processed using a combination of compressive sensing and physics-informed deep learning methods for fast and reliable imaging, whereas time-space analysis will enable tracking any changes in the object.
