Have a read of Reminiscences of a Stock Operator by Edwin Lefevre and then think about all the boom to bust stocks we see in every market cycle. Either the instos that run the prices up to extreme levels are constantly wrong or they are just "manipulating" the prices to the highest possible level to then dump their stock on dummies like you to carry it back down. I'd bet on the latter but it really is irrelevant anyway, the only thing that matters is whether you are in for the runs up and get out before they die ...
As for manipulation to push stocks down, it's just the dumbest of dumb who believe this is why their stocks die
