These key 60 person HCV trial results are crucial and are a big step forward in bringing in a big pharma partner to finally get this drug to market! And reward all it's long term share holders very well
I am confident that our drug BIT225 will have its place in a treatment regime because, firstly, our drug has a novel mode of action – it is the only known drug in development that acts on the virus as it does. Secondly, viruses are quick to change and become resistant to a single anti-viral treatment, thus, combinations of drugs will continue to be used – making our novel mode of action appealing to be included in the treatment cocktail.
Many drugs promise a lot but leave many subsets of the population of patients poorly treated, or even untreated. For example, Gilead’s Sovaldi (which they paid ~$12B for) was claimed about six months ago, by Gilead, to have solved the treatment of HCV. Since then, it has become apparent that Sovaldi is not a particularly good treatment for HCV genotype 3 patients, HCV/HIV co-infected patients and now also comes with a health warning due to a blood pressure lowering side effect.
Compared to these other drugs and the money other have put on them BIT is very very cheap if the results are great then a massive re-rating with take place and it will happen very fast
