The data room was open for a few months and many got to peel back the fluff, so I'd suggest Amgen had already gone through the majority to get to the said overview of the deal before they paid the $15m, to suggest otherwise means that one thinks they came to said deal framework without a major understanding where things were at.

The $15m was to have exclusive talks on top of the framed deal, now what has taken us much longer than the month given could suggest they are cleaning house, getting rid of the cobwebs like Discovery and Alan's borrowings etc.

AbbVie was a different game as it was for exclusivity for two devices, the Finesse syringe and Lisa autoinjector, later we are told by the company that they have delivered said devices as part of the agreement so one summise that Unilife had to/has to show their worth on delivery/production of these devices first before any formal supply agreement and subsequent upfront/exclusivity fees are agreed upon.

Amgen seem to want access to the wearables and also exclusive access to the 1ml wearable, we know Unilife are supplying MedImmune with wearables for near term trials so they are many steps ahead with regards to these devices than say the autoinjectors are/were with AbbVie. Also Amgen have a couple of candidates that they are in collaboration with MedImmune/AZ that could use wearables in the future for.

Just hashing, but I think the two scenarios are worlds apart when comparing AbbVie dealing and what Amgen are trying to achieve here with a stake in the company and access to specific devices etc
