    Its the attitude of believing you are the exception or you can make a judgement call, is the main reason that has prolonged this shutdown.

    If everyone had follow the rules in the first place, we would only require a shutdown of 4 to 6 weeks, as the virus can only live in the host body for 3 to 4 weeks max (average is 2 weeks), before it is either killed by the immune system from the host or the virus kills the host.

    And if the virus couldn't find a NEW host to latch onto, its chain of spreading stops. That was the strategy behind the lockdown.

    The fact that we have had continual cases for 100 plus days; much longer than the 4 to 6 weeks, would suggest people have been flouting the laws.

    So if you start creating discretionary exceptions, then everyone will start making judgement calls about whether they should wear a mask or not.

    That effectively means less compliance, which would lead us back to square one, in a few short weeks.

    Bottom line: the rules need to be applied consistently to ensure maximum compliance, otherwise you create too many loopholes.
