I think it's a case where if you're not sure, replace it or clean it.
1) They weren't sure the well was clogged or not, so they cleaned it and found obstruction.
2) They're not sure the pump was fully functional, so they want to replace it before telling us news that it may be due to a bad pump.
If they can't get numbers from Defender this time, it's pretty much a lost cause in my opinion. Hard for me to say, but that's the truth.
