What I was trying to say, is even if 100% of an industry hub's power could not be provided by renewable energy, it would still be worthwhile if a fair percentage could. The combined output of a biggish wind farm, a decent sized wave array, a large scale solar plant all backed up by natural gas (or other), would provide energy security with environmental side benefits.
