rickyjm,
I did some calculations on the BluGen unit. I'm in NSW. According to my LNG gas bill my LNG gas is costing me 6.1c/kwh plus $44/qtr service charge. So on that basis a BluGen unit will produce electricity at about 10c/kwh running at 58% efficiency. If I use the BluGen heat output for hotwater too then I will get another 0.5kwh of useful energy out of it for the same price. So I'd be paying about 7.5c/kwh for the BluGen energy output. That's not bad considering I am currently paying 20c/kwh for my electricity from Intergral and that's expected to rise. I'm not sure what feed in tariff I would get for any surplus exported to the grid. The gross feed in tariff for solar panels is currently 60c/kwh. It will probably be less for fuel cells but I expect it would provide about $1000-$1500/yr net toward the cost of the unit. So Blugen = Cheap electricity and the unit pays for itself.
