IMO, with the GFC and all its side effects still lingering, we are in a new paradigm. The idea of being a trader or long term investor is old terminology. IMO investors who still think that all will be good ?in the long run? and hold stock simply on that faith are probably carrying a higher risk than those who hold for the short term. The so called economic cycles of the past are now a fallacy. In this market, knowing when to get out, having an exit strategy and not relying on arbitrary archaic timelines is key.
