The amount of energy in 6TCF of gas is approximately the same as in 1 billion barrels of oil. A comparison on value is very different as while the oil market is global and tends to be fixed around various crude marker prices, the price of gas varies widely depending on local markets. Where there is no market - gas has little value - this is why everyone is looking at LNG projects whereby valueless gas can be converted to liquid to supply the worlds higher value gas markets.
