Tera, I appreciate your concern for the environment but you have to consider that for the electric vehicle revolution to take place, huge amounts of nickel will be needed, and that nickel demand can only be satisfied with the contribution from plentiful Indonesian nickel deposits. It is not ideal that coal powers the process, but if you feel strongly about the issue, I think it is preferrable to try to get the country we live in (Australia) to adopt nuclear power to have plentiful carbon free baseload electricity since we can afford to do so.

Another thing that is important to consider is the "social" in ESG. These furnaces in Indonesia provide many jobs to impoverished folk. Nickel mines management are doing the environment well by providing cheap nickel to enable decarbonisation.
