GH, I think that can be explained:

First they came for the communists,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a communist.

Then they came for the socialists,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a socialist.

Then they came for the trade unionists,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a trade unionist.

Then they came for the Jews,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a Jew.

Then they came for the Catholics,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a Catholic.

Then they came for me,
and there was no one left to speak for me.

Whatever the aethiests version of "There but for the grace of God, go I", I like to live by that. I am not sure I would have done anything either. I have never marched in protest.

If the posters here haven't either, their questions should be more respectful.
