There isn't actually much between Socialism vs Fascism, they meet in the middle with both having a group at the top of society left holding the bulk of power and wealth in their hands which inevitably leads to abuse of privilege. This is why in China today the elite have virtually remained the same even though they are now capitalist in nature in many respects. Russia is no different, other than some powerful Western interests interfered, making it more difficult for them to retain as much as they may have had things been differednt. Today's oligarch's are yesterday's commie leaders.

Fascism is when a nation is controlled and dictated to by a small group of mega corporations ie when the pollies lie as prostitutes with the corporatocracy.

Socialism is when the unions combine to take over a nation with a small group holding all the power at the top. The 'small group' also move towards feather nesting and leading lavish lifestyles. Remember Ceausescu anyone? Great example.
