A few years ago they interviewed a women who had just won the Australian Businesswomen of the year and the interviewer asked here why she didn't get into politics and she politely laughed in his face and said why would I do something that stupid.
It just highlights the fact that the best people will not do the job in its present form so your perfect world scenario is just a dream.
They run it like the army, if you have skills in a particular field there is no way in the world that you will be Minister of that portfolio, something to do with square pegs
