Your shares in RXL from the inspeccie (47% of them, because that’s the highest tax bracket) were sold on market (causing the drop in RXL SP on Wednesday). VMC didn’t get, and doesn’t have your money or your shares, the taxman does.
There were quite a few like you without TFN registered. (And I think foreign owners of VMC would have had all of their allocated shares sold, and then taxed, and their accounts credited with the cash remainder).
It is the share registries that do this devil’s work..not the company.
