einstein, I believe that the unemployment rate in Australia is about to soar, if it hasn't already.
But again the problem is masked here by quarterly data releases and the deliberate fudging of these figures for political gain within governments and their departments.
I have found that a huge problem is the under employed and the indignity those fully employed face going into the unpredictable world of the casual/part time worker.
Then there are those being excluded from work because of over qualification. It has happened to me in the past and you just have to lie/or dumb down if you want the work.
The smart country?
Perhaps we've been too smart in the past if we have to 'dumb down' now.
