Teachers are not the problem. It's the strict departmental policies and the policing of them that is denying the students. Teachers cannot discipline, head off poor behaviours, hurt feelings, etc to maintain classroom attention. They are punished if they try.
The students and their parents are empowered and they know it...which works in favour of Asian kids who are culturally disciplined from cradle to grave to focus and not shame the family with failure.
Too much attention on confusing kids with social fads and not enough on them knuckling down and learning objective content like STEM, english, economics.
