Please be advised that a proposal from the Greens Party to halt progress with Underground Coal Gasification (UCG, or as it is known in South Australia, ISG) projects in Australia, was yesterday overwhelmingly defeated in the Federal Senate. From our reading of the Hansard Report, there was a short debate, which concluded that development of Australia's abundant gas resources can be achieved safely with appropriate regulation that manages risks with rigorous outcome focused regulation and evidence based policy backed by scientific research.
