I accept what you say that AZY went for areas that they had reason to believe had less cover and @salpetie has given background on that (thanks salpetie). Shallow is a relative term, and I recall reading that Paterson Province has been late to develop because of the amount of cover. I guess it is all the modern sophisticated survey technology that has made the difference, some of which which has been applied by AZY.
