Perhaps a plank in the new economics would be to pay higher interest rates to the foreigners and charge the US borrowers less than those rates for credit. This brilliant sheme could be funded by selling off Ft. Knox.
It would keep the foreigners and the natives happy and vindicate those cretins who can see no value in gold.
No doubt half the economists would applaud such a scheme. The other half would have concerns with the inequity effect on the poorer countries that could not get in on the action but in general every one would have a jolly time contemplating a prosperous future.
