    Yeah .... from my always uninformed perspective you would need a blowout to destroy casing proximate to the near surface aquifiers.

    There is an unproven hypothesis that this actually did happen at the CXY Kingaroy site however the extent of contamination was infintesimal.

    With good casing design my understanding is that fracing fluid composition is (largely) irrelevant however, as everyone is saying, just do away with the diesel if the EPA doesn't like diesel. Mandate some casing design and well location standards?? TOO Easy!!??

    A far more common problem is natural seepage of HC's to the surface and to aquifiers ....... the later becoming more evident as agricultural use shifts water tables around.

    I read that the current contravery may relate to only 1 of 3000 completed wells actually blowing out. Any well can blow out (as per GGE's unfortunate experience), regardless of whether there is a horozontal or not.
