I suspect that recycling AL in Aus is not economical for a number of reasons. High labour cost, high electricity cost, high maintenance costs, old plant, foreign ownership, low volume, etc, etc. Similar situation to manufacturing and other related industries that are also doing it tough.
As for Auscon, I've had a quick look at the website, and they don't appear to be a re-smelter (secondary smelter) of Al. So there's no opportunity for MHM there.
