Worse for me: In addition to CGT, I will have Centrelink to repay for every extra dollar I make.
At the end of the day, I felt like in order to escape the Low Income Earner gravitational pull, I would have to bite the bullet and make enough to both achieve my goals and pay taxes AND pay back Centrelink - hence the high risk high reward approach; I only get to keep about half what I make even if it all goes according to plan.
As for the strategy, in this case a Friday buy up seemed certain, even if movement in the company wasnt. A
s for the other company I sold out of briefly to fund it, the price had peaked in response to an announcement which in itself was only promising another announcement. In other words, a recipe for peak and dip.
If Shree were to get on the public opinion stage today, I wouldnt kick myself (maybe a little). I still have the investment here that was earmarked for Shree. If it goes up enough, then I will sell out and buy into the other company. If the other company pops its any first, I will be all in back here.
We all have different motives for trading/investing.
