NEXTDC “primary contributor” to world’s fastest metro colo growth
According to a new guide from telecommunications market research and consulting firm TeleGeography, Melbourne and Sydney are leading the world in colocation capacity growth with a CAGR of 30 percent over the past four years.
The insight is contained in TeleGeography’s updated Colocation Database, a comprehensive online guide to colocation service providers and sites around the world.
“Colocation capacity growth has been exceptionally strong in Australia,” the guide states, “where both Sydney and Melbourne experienced increases of around 30 percent compounded annually from 2011-2014, reaching 1.4 million [over 130, 000m2] and 934,500 square feet [nearly 87,000m2] of retail colocation space respectively.”
The guide recognises the investment NEXTDC has made in these cities with the M1 and S1 data centres: “NEXTDC has been the primary contributor to recent growth in both Sydney and Melbourne, launching sites of around 200,000 square feet [almost 18,600m2] in both locations over the past few years.”
