If this breakout was based on BHP "being targeted for an overhaul by activist investor Elliott Management," then what happens if BHP announces, "Yeah, nah, we aren't going to risk long-term security for short-term gain, but thanks for the suggestion"? Activist investors can easily have a big impact on small companies, but BHP is a global giant. There again, it caused BHP to rise over 4% today.
