Childcare and aged care are fundamentally basic roles that we can all inherently do in society. Yes, Governments have layered on many regulations requiring accredited training etc, but it is still work that anyone can and does do in their family life.
Labor in particular have created all these qualifications and what not to try to artificially inflate the barriers to working in those sectors to drive higher pay, fine, but it is an artificial construct to need 4 yrs training to care for children.
This won't be popular but I'll say it, childcare and aged care should be close to minimum wage jobs because the skills required EVERYONE as a human already has. However, I can't walk on to a building site and get on the tools. Trades get paid more because it is a valued skill not everyone possesses.
