What most people don't realise about the "equal work equal pay"...

What most people don't realise about the "equal work equal pay" law is that it only applies to men versus women. It is gender specific. So if 2 men currently do the exact same job in this country but get paid differently, Australian law in its current form, does nothing to help the lower paid worker. If he takes his company to court over it, he will lose. The law was originally created to protect women who didn't get paid the same as men when they did the same job. However, it was never expanded to include 2 people of the same gender or any gender for that matter. Gender shouldn't matter but it does in this antiquated law..
